John Barrowman has weighed in on the female James Bond debate.
The recently announced Dancing on Ice judge, who will replace Jason Gardiner on the panel, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday (September 10) when he was asked by presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid for his opinion on the possibility of a woman playing the iconic spy role.
“I don’t think I’m as irate about it as [Piers] is but I understand why some men and some women would be irate about it,” John said.
“But, for me, I think like you just said Piers, give it a chance. Let it happen. See what happens.”
He added: “If Bond stays as a man or as a woman, I’ll still go see the movies.”
John’s comments follow former 007 Pierce Brosnan saying over the weekend that a female James Bond would be “exhilarating”.
“I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there,” he suggested.
“I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV. No Time to Die is released on April 3, 2020 in the UK and April 8, 2020 in the US.
