We haven’t even seen The Crown season 3 yet (though we won’t have long to wait), but work is already underway on season 4.

And we now have our first-look at one of the show’s most anticipated storylines – the relationship between Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

In a new on-set picture, stars Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin recreate the pair’s trip to Australia in 1983, which included a baby Prince William.

Corrin will be a new addition to the cast in the fourth season alongside Gillian Anderson, who will play former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher.

“I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of The Crown and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman,” Anderson said.

“Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era.”

Meanwhile, ahead of season three, star Oli Colman has opened up about how previous actress Claire Foy inspired her own performance.

“When Claire Foy handed over the mantle she was incredibly encouraging,” she said. “She did the most exquisite job…

“For the first couple of weeks I copied everything she did and I tried to imagine how she’d do it, because I was such a fan.”

The Crown returns with season 3 on Sunday, November 17 on Netflix.
