The hip-hop world has lost an icon and a pioneer. The legendary Lovebug Starski has reportedly passed away at the age 57 in Las Vegas. Multiple sources have confirmed the sad news.
Considered one hip-hop’s first true rappers, Starski came up in the 70s as a young and hungry Bronx MC. He then made his way to the DJ world and went on to drop successful and widely popular singles “Gangster Rock” and “Dancin’ Party People.” Chuck D, one Starski’s closest friends, had this to say to HipHopDX:
Other pioneers mourn the loss Lovebug. RIP to an absolute legend.
