Macklemore Is Working On "First-Ever" Magic Rap Album — & Wants His Fans To Name It

Posted on in Fresh Gems

Macklemore has been relatively quiet as late, but that’s about to change faster than his fans can say “abracadabra.” On Sunday (November 3), the Seattle-bred artist shared an Instagram photo himself dressed as wizard (cover art?) and said he’s been working on a “magic rap” album, which he says is the first its kind.

He also encouraged his fans to help him pick a title for the project with a “CONTEST ALERT.”

“I’ve been working hard on this magic shit,” he captioned the photo. “And now I’m combining both my talents for the first ever Magic Rap album. And YOU get to pick the name. Drop the best album title in the comments, I’ll select the best one and whoever wins gets a free dog. (I pick the dog and I get to name it though. That’s fair). Good luck.”

Macklemore, who shot to notoriety in 2013 thanks in part to the massive single “Thrift Shop,” hasn’t released a proper studio album since 2017’s Gemini. The album spawned the singles “Glorious” with Skylar Grey and “Marmalade” featuring Lil Yachty.

More recently, the 36-year-old was honored with the MusiCares’ Stevie Ray Vaughan Award in recognition his dedication to MusiCares and his commitment to helping others in the addiction recovery process.
