After months of speculation and teasing, Madonna has finally revealed the name of her 14th studio album.
The legendary singer has announced that her new album will be called Madame X, and it looks like it may be a concept album and/or a visual album.
In this stunning video teaser, Madge wears an eyepatch, gets a whip out, and wears a variety of classy outfits, while a new song with the lyrics “The thing that hurts the most/is that I wasn’t lost” plays in the background.
What’s most intriguing is the voiceover telling us about the Madame X character, who likes to travel around the world and fight for freedom.
Apparently she is all of these things: a cha cha instructor, a professor, a head of state, a housekeeper, an equestrian, a prisoner, a student, a teacher, a nun, a cabaret singer, a saint and, of course, a prostitute.
Whether she also has a nanny, a chef, a bodyguard or five, and all of those other things she mentioned in that disastrous ‘American Life’ video is yet to be confirmed.
Speaking of American Life, we do know that Madonna has been in the studio with Mirwais, who produced that album. It is also said to have influences of Portugese music, seeing as she has been living in Lisbon.
The Queen of Pop is due to perform a new song and a classic at the Eurovision Song Contest final on May 18. She’s not here to mess around this time, and we are ready for it.
