Mystery drama Riverdale may put its characters through the mill on a regular basis but thankfully the lives of the show’s actors appear to be far happier.
Vanessa Morgan, who plays Southside Serpent member Toni Topaz on the CW show, has announced that she has married her Major League Baseball star boyfriend Michael Kopech in Florida.
The couple married on Saturday (January 4) in a small ceremony attended by around 40 family and friends, including some of Vanessa’s Riverdale co-stars, according to E! News.
“We both knew the first day we met that ‘this is it’ and I’m so excited that today officially starts our forever,” Vanessa told E! News. “Today, I vowed to love my best friend for a lifetime and it was a day spent with those we love in a room filled with endless love. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.”
The pair have been together for two years and got engaged in July 2019, with Vanessa announcing the news by posting a photo of Michael kneeling in front of her beside a waterfall and captioning it “My Forever”, accompanied by a ring emoji.
One of Vanessa’s biggest Riverdale storylines has been Toni’s relationship with Cheryl Blossom and her co-star Madelaine Petsch, who plays Cheryl, recently confessed that she really wants to see the couple’s relationship explored more in the show’s fourth season.
Asked what she wants to see more of in the current season, Madelaine said: “More of the relationships. More of, like, Betty and Cheryl team-ups, the Veronica and Cheryl team-ups, more Choni, like, relationship stuff.
“I feel like last year, they had us fighting so much. And kind of almost for no purpose it felt like, so I wanna get back to what made Choni fall in love in the first place.”
Riverdale season 4 airs on Wednesdays at 9/8c on The CW in the US. In the UK, you can stream Netflix every Thursday.
